I am working on methods in the field of population genetics and phylogenetics. Current interests include estimation of population parameters such as population sizes, migration rates and divergence times, model testing and model selection. I am fond of using probabilistic methods, such as maximum likelihood and Bayesian methods. Often there are no analytical solutions for such problems and we need to resort to Markov chain Monte Carlo methods to achieve approximate estimators.
