I accompanied a group from FSU attending the 2012 SIAM SEAS meeting, held at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, on 24-25 March 2012, and kept my mouth shut.
I attended the SIAM Conference on Uncertainty Quantification, held in Raleigh, North Carolina, on 2-5 April 2012, and presented part 3 of a minitutorial on the Sparse Collocation Method.
I attended the SAMSI workshop on Uncertainty Quantification for High Performance Computing, held at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, on 2-4 May 2012, and gave a talk on Parallel Collocation for Uncertainty Quantification on High Performance Systems.
From 15 May 2012 to 9 August 2012, I taught the course ISC 3313, "Introduction to Scientific Computing", using C for the programming language. Information about the course is available at the isc_2012 web page.
From 7 July 2012 to 7 August 2012, our department hosted 5 graduate student visitors from the Department of Computational Science and Engineering at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. We planned an associated summer seminar series for which I gave a series of talks:
On 13 July 2012, I gave a guest lecture on "Parallel Programming with MPI" to Professor Michael Mascagni's class on Parallel and Distributed Monte Carlo Methods.
I visited Oak Ridge National Laboratory 19-25 August 2012 and gave a talk on The Interpolation Problem in 1D.
