Seminar on applications of mathematical population genetics

We discuss applications of population genetics to real data. We will use the Hapmap project as a base, but also discuss other data sets.

Meeting time: every Friday at 2:30

Jan 13: Introduction to Hapmap and Kevin's data Peromyscus data set

Jan 20: Ascertainment bias (background material: Clark et al 2005, Kuhner et al 2000)

Jan 27: Discussion what datasets to use: Dog data set (see papers here) and there will be some salmon data set coming up later.

Feb 3: Simple estimators on the data sets, also read the dog papers.

Feb 10: Two Australian bird data sets with 10 nuclear anonymous single-copy loci,
we compared simple statistics among loci and will work on this some more

Feb 17: Data set had errors that made transformation a pain, discussion of general data issues
