Graphlink Guide
TI Graphlink is a program which allows a Macintosh computer
and a TI graphing calculator to communicate. In particular,
-
You can use the Macintosh editor to create or edit programs
that you then transfer to the calculator;
-
You can transfer data or programs from your calculator to
the Macintosh, where you can print them;
-
You can make your calculator's display appear on the Macintosh
screen;
This document is a short guide to TI Graphlink. For more information,
refer to the TI Graphlink Manual.
You must have a TI Graphing Calculator Model
TI73, TI83, TI89 or TI92.
The Macintosh computer must have a Graphlink cable. In the computer
lab, these computers are marked with a sign reading "TI GRAPHLINK".
Making the Connection
-
Turn your TI calculator OFF.
-
Plug the graphlink cable into the base of the calculator.
-
Your calculator might turn on automatically. If not, turn it on now.
-
Start the TI Graphlink program on the Macintosh. (Find the
Launcher program, then select the Network item, and double
click on TI Graphlink).
-
The manual for Graphlink will probably show up on the screen.
Choose QUIT, which will exit Acrobat Reader, close the
manual, and get you into the Graphlink window.
-
Pull down the CONNECTION menu, select your calculator's
model from the list, and click in the CONNECT box.
-
A window should now open with the contents of your calculator,
including programs, variables, lists, and the screen.
File Transfer From the Calculator
If you have a program file on the calculator which you want to
print, edit, or email, you can easily move it to the Macintosh
once your Graphlink connection has been made.
-
In the calculator window, select the file to be transferred.
(That is, put the cursor on the icon, and push the mouse
button).
-
Holding down the mouse button, drag the file out of the calculator
window to its destination. (You're not actually moving the file,
just making a copy).
-
Once the new icon of the file shows up, the copy has been
made successfully.
The current screen of the calculator appears as a file with the
name screen. You can drag this back to the Macintosh
just like any other file. If you double click on the Macintosh
version, it will pop open, and you can print a copy.
File Transfer From the Macintosh
The Macintosh can be a good place to edit programs that you want
to run on your calculator. You may also copy files over the Internet
(or from the Delta Server) to the Macintosh. Once your Graphlink
connection is established, it's easy to copy Macintosh files to
your calculator.
-
Select the file to be transferred. That is, put the mouse
on the file icon and click. This should cause the file to
be highlighted.
-
Holding down the mouse button, drag the file into the calculator
window.
-
If the calculator already has something of the same name, you
will be asked whether you want to replace the current copy.
-
If the file is correctly transferred, it will show up on the
list in the calculator window.
