The code dump for the REU project is available in primer.html. With any luck, it explains how to run itself. For a first task, try to run the initial Genetic Algorithm (not the hybridizing one) and see what sort of results you get.
There is one important difference between my talk and the code: there are three classes of primer: work/fail(no band)/fail(single band). This means that the scoring matrix is 3 by 4, rather than 2 by 3, but it still works in the manner I outlined.
