In 1996, I worked on a computational project studying the control of the crystallization of silicon in the Czochralski process.
In the initial stages of working with the program, I ran across unexpected behavior, which turned out to involve a failure of the gridding routine.
These notes describe the problem that was encountered, and how I worked around it.
