CONFIRM PARTICIPATION

Each speaker in the SIAM Annual meeting must send mail to Joyce Samuels, samuels@siam.org, by 5 April 2005 confirming participation.

You can edit titles and abstracts for the SIAM Annual meeting by going to http://www.siam.org/meetings/AN05/part.htm, up until 2 May 2005.

Each speaker in the SIAM Conference on Control and its Applications must send mail to Wendy Hannan, hannan@siam.org, by 29 April 2005 confirming participation.

REGISTER FOR CONFERENCE

We must all register for the conference by 13 June 2005. If you register on or before this date, the prices are:

Note that it costs $115 to join SIAM for a year.

HOTEL RESERVATIONS

The meeting is being held at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel. The hotel reservation deadline is 13 June 2005. You can call the hotel at 504-561-0500 to make a reservation, or go to the online site http://www.neworleans.hilton.com, or make a reservation from the SIAM meeting web site. Be sure to say you are attending the SIAM conference, and ask for the special rate of $125 a night or $100 for students. (Note that SIAM warns that if you make a reservation through the hotel web site, you won't automatically get the SIAM group rate.)

The address for the hotel is

Hilton New Orleans,
2 Poydras Street,
New Orleans, Louisiana, 70140

The hotel is on the river. There is a health club, six indoor tennis courts, 3 racquetball and squash courts, volleyball and basketball courts, a fitness center, Nautilus Nitro Plus and free weights, Spin and Pilates classes, a golf studio and two outdoor pools.

Nearby attractions include the Riverwalk Festival Marketplace (0 blocks), Harrah's Casino, the Aquarium of the Americas (1 block), the IMAX Theater (1 block), the National D-Day Museum (9 blocks), the Arts District, the Louisiana Children's Museum (5 blocks), and the Riverfront Streetcar (0 blocks) and the French Quarter (3 blocks).

GETTING THERE

Getting to New Orleans from Tallahassee is a 5 to 6 hour drive, all of it on Route 10, which goes right into the center of town. The only complicated part is getting off route 10 at the right spot! People who drive to the meeting will be reimbursed a standard mileage rate - I believe this is 29 cents per mile. There is also a daily parking fee at the hotel, which is $24.64 a night (to be reimbursed).

On Tuesday, 5 July, from 9:00 to 12:00, we will have practice talks:

Day Time Name Talk title
